Conditions Managed
- Papillary, follicular and selected medullary thyroid cancers.
- Suspicious thyroid nodules needing definitive surgery.
- Central or lateral neck lymph node involvement.
- Recurrent thyroid cancer after previous surgery or treatment.
Thyroid cancer surgery with careful attention to complete disease removal, voice nerve protection, parathyroid preservation, neck node management and cosmetic planning. The operation is selected according to tumor type, size, spread and patient priorities.
The thyroid sits close to voice nerves and parathyroid glands. Surgical planning focuses on preserving voice quality and calcium balance while removing the cancer and involved lymph nodes appropriately.
Recovery usually includes wound care, calcium monitoring, thyroid hormone planning and review of the final pathology report. Follow-up may include thyroglobulin monitoring, ultrasound surveillance or radioactive iodine referral.
