TORS Neck Dissection Oral Cavity Surgery Microvascular Reconstruction

Cancers Managed

  • Tongue, cheek, jaw, lip and oral cavity cancers.
  • Tonsil, base of tongue, throat and voice-box cancers.
  • Parotid, salivary gland and complex neck tumors.
  • Recurrent or residual neck nodes after previous treatment.

Surgical Options

  • Transoral robotic surgery for selected throat tumors.
  • Neck dissection with nerve and vessel preservation when possible.
  • Organ-preserving resections planned around function.
  • Reconstruction using local, regional or free-flap techniques.

Why Planning Matters

Head and neck cancers sit close to structures used for speaking, eating, breathing and facial movement. Imaging, biopsy review and staging guide the safest operation and help decide when radiation, chemotherapy or immunotherapy should be part of treatment.

Consultation & Workup

  1. Clinical examination of the mouth, throat, neck and cranial nerve function.
  2. Review of biopsy, contrast CT or MRI, PET-CT where needed and previous treatment records.
  3. Discussion of surgical extent, expected scars, reconstruction, feeding support and voice or swallowing rehabilitation.
  4. Coordination with radiation oncology, medical oncology, speech therapy and nutrition when required.

Recovery Focus

Recovery depends on the tumor site and the type of reconstruction. Many patients need a short hospital stay, wound care, diet progression, speech or swallowing therapy and close pathology-based follow-up.
